Terms of Service

Last updated: February 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Journtell ("the Service"), operated by Journtell, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Service. We recommend that you also review our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

2. Description of Service

Journtell is an AI-powered autobiography platform. Users record memories through voice recordings or text entries, and an AI "Story Team" of specialized roles transforms those entries into professionally crafted life story chapters. The Service also includes features for organizing life events, managing characters, inviting family members to contribute, and exporting stories in supported formats.

3. Account Registration

To use the Service, you must create an account with a valid email address and verify your email. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Each person may maintain only one account. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

4. User Content

You retain full ownership of all content you submit to Journtell, including text entries, voice recordings, and any other materials ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant Journtell a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, and transform your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license terminates when you delete your content or your account.

5. AI-Generated Content

Chapters and other content generated by the AI Story Team based on your inputs are owned by you. However, AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, creative embellishments, or errors. You are responsible for reviewing all generated content before sharing or publishing it. Journtell does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of AI-generated content.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Upload content that infringes on the rights of others.
  • Submit content that is illegal, defamatory, or harmful.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or interfere with the platform or its AI systems.
  • Create multiple accounts or share account credentials.
  • Use automated tools to access the Service without prior written permission.

7. Family Threads

The Family Threads feature allows you to invite others to contribute memories and perspectives to your story. When you invite someone, you are responsible for ensuring you have their consent to receive the invitation and for informing them about how their contributions will be used. Contributors' responses become part of your story and are subject to these Terms.

8. Subscription and Billing

Journtell may offer free and paid plans. Current plans, pricing, included features, billing intervals, and any promotional terms are shown on our website or at checkout and may change over time.

Paid subscriptions renew automatically. You may cancel at any time, and your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated at checkout. Except where required by applicable law or expressly stated at the time of purchase, fees are non-refundable.

9. Book Export

Available export formats, print options, and related features (if any) depend on your plan and current product availability. Once exported, the content belongs to you. Journtell is not responsible for how exported content is used, distributed, or published after download.

10. Intellectual Property

The Journtell platform, including its design, code, AI models (as configured), branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Journtell. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the platform itself. Your content remains yours, as described in Section 4.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. In the event of termination by us, we may provide a limited opportunity to export your data before deletion where practical and legally permitted, unless the termination is due to illegal activity, abuse, or serious Terms violations.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Journtell and Journtell shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim. This limitation does not apply where prohibited by applicable law, including mandatory consumer protection provisions under EU law.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in the State of Florida. If you are an EU resident, nothing in these Terms limits your rights under mandatory consumer protection provisions of your local law.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will provide notice of material changes as required by applicable law, such as by email or a notice on the platform. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
